family & children sessions:   Your session will last approximately   1–1 ½ hours.  The location for your session can either be at a location of your choosing, my recommendation or a collaboration of our ideas together.  When deciding what you should wear, I recommend choosing 3-4 colors and blending those together.  I have found that layering, having some great accessories (shoes, scarves, jewelry) and working with the details are what makes your pictures pop.  For color suggestions, visit my pinterest page:     http://pinterest.com/triciabrummel/photography-tips-what-to-wear

high school seniors & engagement sessions:  Your session will last 1-2 hours.  The location for your session can either be at a location of your choosing, my recommendation or a collaboration of our ideas together.  The location should reflects your personality and style.  You are allowed  an unlimited number of outfit changes, but 2-4 outfits seems to be ideal.  If you are having a hard time deciding on your outfits, I suggest taking them all along and then you can show them to me.  Together we can decide on which outfits will work the best for the location that we have chosen.

newborn session: A genuine newborn session is usually done within the first 2 weeks of your baby being born.  During this time frame, a baby is usually sleeping often and very deeply.  This allows for easier posing.   I will come to your house for the session and your session will last about 1 ½ hours.   The time frame really does depend on your baby: whether they are awake or asleep, happy or crying, hungry or full.  Before I come, have your baby in just a diaper and wrapped in a blanket and if possible feed your baby just before I come.  However, if you need to feed your baby while I am there, that is totally fine and PLEASE do NOT apologize to me.  I am a mother and I totally understand.   I prefer to use natural light, if possible, so when I come to your house, I will walk around to find the area that has the best light.   I always take along various props and blankets, however, if you have any blankets, hats, headbands that you would like used, please let me know.    Please also let me know if you and/or your husband would like to be in any of the pictures with the baby.

props:  I have a variety of props: chairs, benches, stools,  baskets that I use for my various sessions.   I will take them along if I feel like they will be needed for a session.  If you have any questions about props, if you are interested in doing a themed photo shoot (e.g. vintage, balloons, pinwheels, lollipops, kites  etc.), please discuss this with me before your session.

locations:   When deciding on a location for your session, I like to think of it as a collaborative process.  I always have a lot of ideas and I will offer you suggestions if you do not know where you would like to have your pictures taken.  I recommend thinking about “the look” that you want your pictures to have when hanging on your walls.  I also suggest looking at some of my previous work to see if it gives you an ideas.  I am always up for trying new things so if you have a location that is special to you or an idea, please share it with me.  These are your pictures and I want you to LOVE them!

location suggestions:

Parks:  Natural setting – green grass, trees, streams, bridges, benches, steps, etc.  Some of my favorites – Hagar Park, Johnson Park, Spring Grove, Ideal Park.

Barn/Field:  Natural setting but different than a barn.  Great texture and color from the barn with the natural look of an open field

Beach:  Water, sand, the pier - What more needs to be said!  Holland State Park, Tunnel Park, Grand Haven State Park

Downtown Areas:  Grand Rapids, Holland, Grand Haven – LOVE them all!  They all offer their unique areas.  For example: Grand Rapids  1) along the river – walk along the river, cross the bridges.  It gives you a park setting with the city in the background.  2) Middle of downtown – great architecture, a mixture of old and new.  3) Old Buildings – alley ways, doorways, fun colors and textures, old factory buildings, etc.

Something a bit different (some locations depend on the season):  Apple orchard, Carnival, Christmas tree farm, Library, Laundromat, etc.

payment:  Payment is due in full the day of your session.  You can pay in cash or check, with checks made out to Tricia Brummel.

weather:  I am always watching the weather.  If I have any concerns about the weather for your session, I will contact you and we can discuss whether we need to reschedule or if there is an alternate location that we can go to for your pictures.

editing/preview:  The editing time for a kids, family, senior & engagement session is 2-3 weeks.  A newborn session is 1 ½ weeks.  A wedding is 6-8 weeks.   After I have finished editing your pictures, I will contact you and you will be allowed to view all of your pictures on-line.   Please keep in mind that these are approximate time frames, and they are subject to change based on circumstances that are outside the photographers control.  If I fall behind in my editing times, I will contact you to let you know.

availability:  I schedule sessions Monday-Saturday but I am not available on Sunday's.
